Torquex is a custom Shopify theme built for off-road, 4x4, and overlanding parts retailers — the kind of store that sells skid plates, recovery gear, rooftop tents, coilovers, and tires. It pairs a dark, high-contrast storefront with a set of conversion-focused sections designed around how enthusiasts actually shop: comparing specs, building kits, and checking whether a part fits their rig.
The demo store is fully merchandised with 50+ products across several house brands, so every template is shown with real catalog data rather than placeholders.
Highlights
- Built to convert — a one-tap bundle builder adds a whole kit to the cart at a running total, a compare table lines up similar parts spec for spec, and a before/after slider shows a stock rig next to the built version.
- Shop the way enthusiasts do — collections support faceted filtering by price, brand, colour, and vehicle fitment, with sort, on-sale, and tag filters plus pagination across a deep catalog.
- Product pages that answer the real questions — variant selectors for size, colour, and options, stock status, and an install-difficulty badge (easy / moderate / pro) carried through to a dedicated difficulty guide on the home page.
- A complete storefront — announcement bar, slide-out cart drawer, newsletter popup, journal/blog, reviews and testimonials, a video section, trust badges, and content pages for shipping, returns, fitment, and FAQs.
Build notes
The theme is built on Shopify’s Online Store 2.0 architecture: every page is a JSON template assembled from sections, and the header and footer are section groups, so a merchant can re-order, add, or remove blocks from the theme editor without touching code. Templating is Liquid, with vanilla JavaScript for the interactive pieces (bundle builder, compare table, before/after handle, cart drawer) and hand-written CSS for the dark, performance-minded UI. A currency selector and search round out the storefront chrome.
